Hip-Hop dance theatre told with infectious joy and mischievous smiles.
Brotherhood is a new show highlighting the unknown struggles of young Black men living in the UK. Originally from Africa and the Caribbean, this all-Black cast of multi-talented long time friends will share their origin stories of perseverance through dance and music. Societal pressures will not change them; they meet every challenge with an infectious joy and mischievous smiles. Holding tight to their roots through racism and prejudice, this unique tale of family and love will be one that sticks with you long after you first see it.
Vitamin Noir are a group of young men (and a woman) living in Newcastle Upon Tyne. They are made up of dancers, rappers, artists, photographers and all-around creatives who bring contagious energy to everything they do. Being friends for more than a decade has turned them into a family with tight bonds and interwoven stories that must be seen to be believed. Underrepresented in the industry, they’ve come together to share opportunities and put diverse stories (and faces) at the forefront of the art. At the heart of what they do is a love for creating great work that makes people want to laugh, cry, and most of all, get up from their seats.
Originally conceived through an Emerge + See Breakin’ Convention commission with performance at Dance City, March‘22.
Development supported by The National Lottery Jubilee Fund.
