"It isn’t personal. It’s just an algorithm."

The world has become a stark place since the crisis. People trade their freedom for shelter, their lives for the city’s power, their past for others’ present. At least there is Opolis.

Julie wants change. She wants her privacy. She wants a life outside of Opolis. But she needs to provide something in return, and as time closes in she must decide what she’s prepared to lose.

Opolis is a new psychological sci-fi thriller from Alphabetti Theatre’s award-winning Artistic Director Ali Pritchard. Created in his frank humorous, political and emotive style, it asks us to examine the difference between lived and displayed experiences, and how far we’ll go for the picture perfect life.

Praise for Pritchard’s previous work:

“Pritchard’s light touch and eye for the absurd stop things descending into bleakness. He manages to imbue the production with plenty of humour without minimising the plight of its protagonist, and it’s peppered with delightful touches.” - The Stage, About Present, 2019

“Ali Pritchard’s sparsely staged production does a skilful job of keeping the audience off balance with abrupt changes in tone. The audience is invited to laugh at comic misfortune one minute, and then made choke on that laughter the next.”  - The Stage, About Bacon Knees & Sausage Fingers, 2019

Kay Greyson

At 23, Kay Greyson has been rapping and performing for over ten years cementing her reputation in the UK as a hardworking and multi-talented artist. Her US influenced style  calls back to the mid 2000's hip hop she loved as a teen. As a writer, she focuses on clever songwriting with a groove to keep any crowd moving! Having already supported legends like The Game, KRS One, DJ Yella, Akala etc she is now focused on creating her own legend. Her 2021 single 'Over and Over' amassing over 60,000 streams and being featured on Radio 1 as part of 'Jack Saunders Future Artists' feels like just the beginning.

Outside of music, Kay has began acting. She has been in theatre shows across a variety of venues in the North East including a school tour of Brash Theatre's 'Raising Shame'. She also began writing her own work with her first piece being premiered at Alphabetti Theatre as a reaction piece to '10 things to do in a Small Cumbrian Town'.

In 2022, Kay plans to keep developing as an actor and writer as well as dropping new music she has written on a recent trip to Los Angeles, to really cement herself as a multi-talented all-around artist.
